About Motus.

Motus is Latin for motion and movement. It is also the simplest version of the philosophy behind everything we do.

Why we exist

Built around the people
who need it most.

After 35, your body starts asking for something different. Muscle mass declines, recovery takes longer, hormones shift, and the things that worked at 25 just stop working. Most fitness options are built for people in their twenties. Motus was built specifically for adults navigating what comes after that.

The focus is strength, because it is the thing that matters most long-term. Not aesthetics, not quick fixes. Strength is what lets you get off the floor, carry your shopping, keep up with your kids or grandkids, and stay capable well into later life. It is the foundation everything else sits on.

Motus started in Worthing in March 2025. In the first year, it grew into a community of adults over 35 who train together, learn together, and show up for each other every week.

The philosophy

How we think
about training.

No quick fixes. No punishment sessions. No programme that ignores your body, your history, or your life. Just consistent, well-coached training that you can actually stick to.

Strength is the priority

We lose around 1% of muscle mass per year after 30. Strength training is the most evidence-backed way to reverse that. Everything else follows.

Safety before everything

Groups go up to 12 people but every session is fully coached. Form is always the priority. The goal is to keep you training for decades, injury-free.

Progress over perfection

One more rep. A little more weight. Moving better than last week. Small, consistent improvements that compound over time. That is the whole game.

Consistency over intensity

Three well-coached sessions per week will outperform five exhausting ones every time. Recovery is part of the training. We plan for that, not against it.

Community makes it stick

Training with people who show up, have a laugh, and keep each other going is a completely different experience to going it alone.

Built for how you are now

Old injuries, perimenopause, a bad back, a busy schedule. Sessions are adapted around real bodies and real lives, not idealised versions of either.

Ana has been coaching for over 10 years. She specialises in adults over 35 because these are the people who have been most underserved by the fitness industry, and where the right coaching makes the biggest difference.

Sessions are not just a programme left on a whiteboard. Ana coaches every session from start to finish. She watches how you move, adjusts what you are doing in real time, and makes sure every person in the group is working in a way that is right for their body that day.

The weekly check-in call during the 6-week challenge is there for the same reason. Because what happens outside the session matters just as much as what happens inside it.

What keeps people

Most people come to Motus for the training. They stay because of the people. Strangers in week one become people who genuinely look out for each other. Members who have been here since the beginning are still showing up and still progressing.

Every month there is something outside the gym. Charity runs, padel, Pilates, myth-busting workshops, nutrition sessions, meals out. Something different every time, always with people who are glad you came.

Motus is the kind of place where new people are welcomed properly, where the door is always open, and where showing up once is usually enough to make you want to come back.
